A Guntersville teen was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday, April 3rd.
According to the Alabama State Troopers Office, “The crash occurred at 2:20 p.m. on Horton Rd (Hwy 75) four miles north of Douglas. A 16-year-old teen was killed when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a bridge and overturned.”
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
March 20 - A vehicle was stopped in the Martlin area of Marshall County by the Marshall County Sheriffs Office. A MCSO deputy was speaking with the driver, Tyler Don Otinger, 27, when the Deputy, “observed a bag containing a white substance lying on the dash of the car,” states Asst. Chief Steve Guthrie.
According to Guthrie, “The driver grabbed the bag and drove away at a high rate of speed. Deputy’s gave chase and the vehicle was stopped again.” The vehicle was then stopped in DeKalb County.
After the vehicle was stopped the second time, “Otinger resisted arrest, and the Deputy was forced to deploy his taser to bring him into custody,“ states Asst. Chief Guthrie
According to the MCSO, “Crystal meth was recovered along with a 12 gauge shotgun.”
Otinger is being held in the MCSO charged with unlawful poss of controlled substance, unlawful poss of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and attempting to elude.
On Fat Tuesday, Local Joe's BBQ in Albertville conducted their ribbon cutting. The restaurant is located on East Main St. at the corner of Hwy 75. Many came out to support the grand opening including Mayor Honea.
Local Joe's has three locations in Alabama and one location in Georgia.
